Curtis W. Clerkley, Jr. Principal of The Clerkley Watkins Group, has a diverse background in architecture and planning. His professional career spans over 35 years, with experience in various architectural and design disciplines, marketing and business development, project management, programming and planning as well as construction administration. Curtis graduated from Texas Tech University College of Architecture in 1981. He joined Steinberg/Wallace and Associates in 1984, where he was first exposed to managing multi-family projects. In 1986, Curtis established The Clerkley Group which transformed into The Clerkley Watkins Group in 2001 when Edward H. Watkinds joined the firm as a principal. Today the first does work throughout the US, licensed in 18 states. The firm is currently working in Texas and 6 other states, as well as the Bahamas. Project types for which Curtis has extensive architectural and design experience include student housing, multi-family housing, townhomes, mixed-use development, active adult communities, and build-for/to-rent housing. Curtis is actively involved in the Houston community, volunteering and serving on numerous boards and committees.
