BUILT has provided me with deep connections and friendships with industry folks unlike no other organization I’m aware of.  As a BUILT National board director, I’ve had the privilege of seeing how the organization’s uniquely tailored and intentional approach to relationship-building has worked successfully across several markets.

BUILT stands apart in the AEC world because it trades volume for depth. The intimate settings and extended program create space for real conversations, stronger relationships, and a level of trust that simply doesn’t happen in typical networking formats. As a recent transplant, BUILT made Salt Lake City feel smaller in the best way. Suddenly, I had a network, a community, and people who genuinely wanted to help me grow. And let’s be honest, they also throw one helluva party!

In my 30+ years in business development I have never been involved with a better run networking or effective relationship building organization then BUILT National – and I have participated in almost all of them at some point.   Many people talk about the value of the exclusive nature of BUILT, especially to “provider partners” like my firm, and that is unique and extremely beneficial.  However, I believe the most important aspect of BUILT is that members are courteous, unselfish, engaged, credible, and knowledgeable – because BUILT requires them to be.

As a brand new member in 2023, I can say that it would be a huge mistake if you were not apart of this organization in some way. The partnerships, networking and long lasting relationships are being “BUILT” in so many different ways across many unique activities and experiences. This organization is one of the most welcoming, no pressure groups I think you will run across out there, hands down.

As a National Board Member of BUILT, I hope I’ve brought some value to the organization. In truth, I have likely gained more value back through the sharing culture and the long-term relationships I’ve made.  If one gets involved and stays engaged, you’ll find that the professionals in the network truly care about your success on a business and personal level. It’s given me the opportunity to share with my peers in the industry who were originally seen as “competitors” but now have grown into genuine friends.
